Scott Pilgrim vs Paul Robertson
the Scott Pilgrim comic is awesome, but it's hard not to cock a wary eyebrow toward the Scott Pilgrim movie and video game tie-in. after finally watching the trailer, fears have been calmed considerably, mostly because Edgar Wright is a genius. and now there is a reason to be excited about the game, someone was smart enough to get not only anana amagna amamam anamanaguchi to do the music, but Paul Robertson too ??!!! now you might be saying "who is this Mr. Robertson and why do i give a damn??" well you're kinda surly, but i like that about you, here are some examples, full screen em' for best results: (squeamish types should probably stick to the middle video)
not enough?? well why not have mmmmmmoooooorrreeeee????!!!
moooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr maximum awesome!!!
he's making cartoons that everyone wishes were games. also worth checking out is his work with the mecha fetus art collective. oh yeah screens of the new scott pilgrim game can be found here. can't wait!

Cave Story
so i realize this post is pretty out of date but with it being re-released for both the psp and wiiware, what a better time than to go back and see what all the hullabaloo is about

it was created over five years by Daisuke Amaya and released waaaaay back in 2004. from the wiki: "The main character awakens in an underground cavern with no memory of how he came to be there. He finds a village populated by rabbit-like creatures called Mimigas, who are being persecuted by the Doctor. Two of the Doctor's servants, Misery and Balrog, are looking for a Mimiga named Sue, but mistakenly abduct a Mimiga named Toroko. The player's main quest is to rescue Sue, save the Mimigas from the Doctor, and escape the floating island on which the game is set." so yeah...sounds a little weird and it is but it doesn't detract from the fun
the game controls like any good platformer should, there is a little drift in the movement and a good controllable slightly floaty jump. you can swap weapons on the fly and they can be upgraded with pick-ups. a controller should be used for maximum awesome. boss fights are hectic, the writing is funny, and the characters (enemies included) are likable
obviously a labor of love, there are lots of hidden secrets, three possible endings, and the art direction and music are awesome. you can't help but be charmed by the entire presentation, so get out there and download it!!

Usamaru Furuya
sooooo good, you can check the wiki for a more current bio, but this one is more fun. these comics come from the books Short Cuts, volumes 1 & 2.

his work varies quite a bit and can go from cutesy to extremely dark withing pages. other than Short Cuts his work is a bitch to track down, but the awesome Palepoli appears in Secret Comics Japan, and he did the cover!

Louis CK

so if the photo wasn't enough of an indication, the video contains some bad language, and lots of penis talk....for the ladies

Doug Tennapel-Power Up

the description on the back of the book:
"From the creator of Earthworm Jim, Creature Tech, and Monster Zoo comes the comedic story of Hugh Randolph, a family man down on his luck. He works as a mindless drone at a local printer until he discovers a mysterious video game console that gives him the power to produce endless riches, manipulate his work day, and even cheat death!"
its very sweet and a quick read totally worth checking out
the interview is great and you can watch him ink pages from the very book!!
